THE LONG ACRE

THE LONG ACRE is set in a fictional village on the edge of Dartmoor. It is the first book in the series and introduces the character of Amos "Moss" Trant.

He was born at the end of a hard winter. His father had left earlier to feed the sheep out on the moor, wrapped up in coats and a hat and thick gloves on a Honda Pioneer with a Mars bar in his pocket and two dogs breathing down his neck. By the time he returned, the baby had arrived.

At 18, Moss buys a wild roan mare from the fair and trains it to lead out treks on the moor.  The pony trekking brings in more money than the farm will ever make, but when his spotted horse is killed in an accident, Moss swears he will never ride again.

In the spring following the accident, the beautiful Betsy Rose swings into the yard to help take out the treks and when Betsy starts dating Brett Lynch of Lynch Property, an old family grudge is rekindled.
